Some things you can do to help yourself...

Attitude: A person’s attitude about their pain problem is most important. Try to establish a positive attitude. You can control the pain - NOT let the pain control you.

Diet: Many people suffering from chronic pain are overweight. Being excessively overweight can be very damaging to muscles, tendons and joints, not to mention the increased stress on the cardio-respiratory system and the general body physiology. We believe weight loss is something overweight people can and must do to help relieve their pain. Even if you are not overweight, it is important to establish proper eating habits.

Exercise: Exercise increase the tone of muscles, helps to relieve spasms and increases oxygenation of muscle tissue. Exercise improves function of tendons and joints as well as benefiting the cardiovascular-respiratory systems. A systematic daily exercise program is something you can do to help yourself with many pain problems.

Relaxation/Meditation: There are numerous forms of relaxation therapy that are helpful. Relaxation training and stress management, biofeedback and meditation can all be beneficial.

Alternative - An opportunity for deciding between 2 or more courses.

Thus Alternative Medicine can be defined as one or a variety of methods used in place of conventional medicine. Often patients turn to alternatives when they feel conventional medicine has failed.

Today, more medical doctors are becoming well informed on a variety of alternative methods and using alternative approaches in connection with conventional medicine.

It is important to note that a large percentage of patients fail to advise their physician that they are using one or more alternative approaches. We cannot stress strong enough how important it is to be totally honest with your physician to avoid any possible interactions or conflict of treatments.

BEWARE of false promises. Alternative Medicine cannot:

  • Help you lose weight quickly and effortlessly
  • Cure any major illness such as cancer, AIDS, Heart Disease, etc.
  • Prevent an illness
  • Reverse aging
  • Alternative medicine can be very beneficial when used properly and under medical supervision.
