DoctorsForPain.com would like to pay
honor to Robert V. Plehn, M.D. who was the creator of
and served as our Medical Director until his recent
death. Dr. Plehn practiced anesthesiology and pain
management for almost 53 years without a single
malpractice suit. His contributions to this web
site have been beneficial to many in the past and will
continue throughout many years to come. We
are extremely grateful for the honor of knowing Dr.
Plehn and will keep DoctorsForPain.com active in honor
of his memory.
Dr.
Plehn was born and raised in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. His
father, Frank W. Plehn, M.D., practiced general medicine in
Kansas and Nebraska fifty-five years. He was a Board
Certified Roentgenologist and the first Radiologist in
Western, Nebraska. His mother was a Registered Nurse,
Registered Laboratory Technician and Registered X-ray
Technician.
Prior
to entering Medical School, he studied Aeronautical
Engineering and served in the United States Navy, as a Naval
Aviator (Air Ship). He completed his Pre-Medical studies at
Scottsbluff Junior College and Creighton University,
and then attended the University of Nebraska College of
Medicine, graduating with B.S. (Med.) and M.D.
Upon
completion of his formal studies, he interned for one year
(general rotating), at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln,
Nebraska. He practiced General Medicine for two years,
before entering Residency in Anesthesiology at The
University Of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dr.
Plehn is a Diplomate of The American Board of Anesthesiology
and a Fellow of The American College of Anesthesiology.
Dr.
Plehn served in an executive capacity in all hospitals where
he held privileges, also served as a Delegate to The Nevada
State Medical Society, for several years. He was appointed
by Governor Paul Laxalt to The Nevada Higher Education
Committee, serving four years.
He
has extensive experience in all types of general and
regional anesthesia. He has devoted the last ten years to
the specialty of Pain Management, the evaluation and
management of pain problems, together with diagnostic and
therapeutic nerve blocks for many types of pain problems. He
received special training in "Spinal Endoscopy" at
the Medical Education and Research Institute in Memphis,
Tennessee in 1998.

As well as acting Medical Director for DoctorsForPain.com, Dr. Plehn is also the Director of Lakeland Pain Management in Lakeland, Georgia.
He recently completed serving as Chief of Staff and Director of
Anesthesia at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital. He is
currently serving as Director of Medical Staff
Affairs.
As
Medical Director, Dr. Plehn has authored all articles
within this site except where otherwise indicated.
